Japfa broke ground on its high-tech pig farm in Binh Phuoc

On October 6, Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Japfa) broke ground on the high-tech pig farm in Long Ha commune, Phu Rieng district, Binh Phuoc province.

With a total investment of nearly VND500 billion ($21.74 million) and a total area of nearly 40 hectares, the project will supply more than 130,000 pigs to the market a season, equivalent to more than 140,000 tonnes of pork a year. After it is put into operation, the farm will create jobs and training opportunities for local human resources in the operation of modern technology systems.

Francisco Domingues, head of swine operation, Japfa said, “In the current epidemic situation, biosecurity is one of the key points to ensure supply to the market. Therefore, Japfa not only invests in facilities in the barn but also promotes the application of technology and a closed management process.”

“This not only saves livestock costs but also helps to establish biohealing mechanisms while improving resistance for livestock, thereby effectively preventing infectious diseases and ensuring high-quality meat supply to the market,” he said.

To enhance efficiency, the project is built using fully automatic technology. Built from 100 per cent slat, it is easy to clean and saves up to 40 per cent oF construction area. This reduces management fees, while the wastewater treatment system operating under strict standards ensures environmentally friendly operations.

“In the future, we will continue to expand new farms. We are now looking for suitable construction locations, ensuring a safe distance from the surrounding areas," Francisco said.

In 1995, Japfa invested in Vietnam under the joint venture format with Vietnam Livestock Corporation. In 1999, the company became a 100 per cent foreign-owned company under the name of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd., with headquarters in Huong Canh town, Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province.

Currently, the company operates six factories (Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, Long An) and a system of more than 300 farms providing high-quality pigs, poultry, and commercial products. With more than 4,000 highly-skilled employees, Japfa is gradually expanding its business, contributing to the development of the livestock industry in Vietnam.
