IT service providers form green transformation partnership

This initiative addresses the increasing demands of customers in industrial sectors for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) solutions, not only in South Korea and Vietnam but also in the global market.

The agreement was signed within the Vietnam-Korea Digital Forum 2024 framework in Seoul on August 2.

The Vietnam Software and IT Services Association co-organised the event in collaboration with a non-profit government agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT in South Korea and KOSA Plus.

The forum aimed to connect Vietnamese and South Korean tech companies to effectively promote digital and green transformations between the two countries.

Under the cooperation agreement, FPT IS and SK C&C will join forces to develop technology solutions and green transition services for global corporate customers, with a key focus on Vietnam, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Specifically, both parties will share solutions and technological capabilities for ESG implementation, developing customised services for each customer and region.

This cooperation is expected to leverage the green transformation technology solutions that both FPT IS and SK C&C possess, while also expanding their ESG customer base. The business model will serve as a guide to promote green transformation in Vietnam, South Korea, and globally.

In parallel, the two sides plan to collaborate in designing and building SK C&C's net-zero factory model to enter the Southeast Asian market, including Vietnam. The model aims to achieve carbon neutrality in all its operations, from energy consumption, water use, and transition to renewable energy and high-efficiency equipment.

Kim Min Hyuk, global director of SK C&C, shared, “This partnership will expand opportunities to introduce the Digital Carbon Passport Platform not only in South Korea and Vietnam but also in Europe and Southeast Asia. We will share our expertise and coordinate with FPT IS to help global manufacturing enterprises achieve net-zero, sustainable development, and continuously discover global ESG best practices.”

SK C&C is currently focused on providing comprehensive digital solutions, integrating innovative business practices with advanced digital technology in four areas: digital transformation, green transformation, AI, cloud computing, and digital manufacturing.

Its Digital Carbon Passport Platform supports product lifecycle assessment based on real carbon data, automatically generates carbon emissions reports, and evaluates the environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle from raw material extraction, production, and use, to disposal.

Additionally, the platform supports international standards for product carbon footprint assessment.

FPT IS is collaborating with international partners such as the Japanese Carbon Credit Platform, the Japan-based Carbon-Oriented Agricultural Development Company, and several ESG experts from Germany and Japan, to provide appropriate green transition solutions for businesses.

In this cooperation, FPT IS will share a carbon accounting solution called VertZéro, allowing enterprises to monitor and manage carbon emissions.

Tran Duc Tri Quang, chief data officer at FPT IS, shared that the Vietnamese government has set a vision and made serious commitments to the net-zero 2050 goal.

"FPT IS identifies its mission to participate in this strategy to support businesses in achieving the country's common goal while enhancing their competitive edge in the global market," Quang said. "Through our partnership with SK C&C, we believe in expanding actionable programmes that both sides can create together, bringing effective solutions to Vietnamese and Korean businesses as well as the world."

FPT IS has already implemented VertZéro for Tran Duc Group. The project helped Tran Duc inventory emissions across its entire production and business system, enabling the enterprise to achieve net-zero in manufacturing, architecture, and construction, and enhance the quality of sustainable interior products in the international market.
