Key figures present at the signing ceremony included Tran Dang Hoa, chairman of FPT IS, Susanto Djaja, president director of Metrodata Electronics, along with other senior leaders from both organisations.
The MoU focusses on cooperation for the development and deployment of digital transformation solutions based on leading technologies such as Cloud Computing, Data, and AI.
The agreement encompasses various critical areas, including market development for digital transformation applications and solutions tailored to accelerate digital and green transformations in Indonesia. Educational initiatives will focus on professional talent development, specifically in the areas of data science, machine learning, and AI programming, while the establishment of a robust AI infrastructure platform will encompass cloud and GPU technologies. The creation of innovative machine learning models and AI applications will also feature.

Addressing the event, Susanto Djaja, president director of Metrodata, expressed, “Today marks an important milestone as PT. Metrodata Electronics enters into a strategic partnership with FPT Corporation through FPT IS. We will jointly focus on promoting AI-based applications to boost productivity and expedite progress. This strategic action aligns with our commitment to making technology the growth engine and a beacon for Indonesia's sustainable digital economy development.”
Susanto revealed that Indonesia's digital economy presents numerous opportunities and prospects, with projections reaching $1.5 trillion, accounting for 14 per cent of GDP. Cloud infrastructure and AI-related opportunities are expected to double every five years.
“Indonesia's digital competitiveness has improved drastically over the years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing multiple opportunities for technology enterprises such as FPT IS and Metrodata to contribute to the country's economic recovery,” Susanto added.
Tran Dang Hoa, chairman of FPT IS, emphasised that the collaboration would serve as a crucial foundation for both entities to leverage their internal potential, develop technology products and services, achieve "world-class" status, and create significant growth advantages for businesses.
Further emphasising FPT IS's 30 years of experience in supporting the development of Vietnamese and regional economies, Hoa highlighted the alignment with the significant changes in the Made by FPT technology ecosystem, based on core technologies such as AI, Data, Cloud, and Blockchain. This collaboration with Metrodata aims to bring competitive products to the international market.
Within the framework of the event, Truong Gia Binh – chairman of FPT Corporation and Susanto Djaja, president director of Metrodata Electronics participated in a high-level dialogue during the state visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Vietnam from January 11-13. During the meeting, Indonesian President Joko Widodo proposed that prominent Vietnamese enterprises, including FPT, increase their investments in the country, particularly in the technology sector.
