In the face of the fourth COVID-19 outbreak in Vietnam, SCG, one of the leading conglomerates in Asia, has taken timely actions to provide innovative paper products and mobilise resources from all of its subsidiaries and staff to support the community.

These contributions expressed SCG’s relentless commitment as a good corporate citizen to different communities in Vietnam.

Provided by SCGP (the packaging business of SCG), these paper innovations have been delivered timely to aid the government and communities in their battle against the pandemic.

Specifically, to ensure health during the national election campaign, SCGP has presented 100 premium paper partitions produced by its subsidiary Alcamax Packaging Vietnam Co., Ltd. to keep a safe distance and limit the spread of the pandemic during the voting in Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.

An additional 300 sets of paper partitions, subsequently, will also be transferred to the Centre of Disease Control Binh Duong (CDC), Dong Nai Department of Health, and Hai Duong province to support pandemic prevention at government and health offices.

Besides, SCGP also immediately produced and delivered 100 paper beds to the field hospital in Bac Giang. These beds have already proved successful in supporting the pandemic fight in Bac Giang province. These paper beds, made entirely of recycled paper, were built to provide comfort and safety and are easy to transfer and install for both patients and medical workers.

Provided by SCGP, these paper innovations have arrived timely in Vietnam to aid the government and societies in different battles.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, SCGP has deployed several necessary initiatives to support the local communities in Vietnam during this challenging time. With our innovative paper products, we hope to assist the Vietnamese government and authorities to protect people’s well-being, helping people to get back to normal life soon,” said Sompob Witworrasakul, general director of Vina Kraft Paper Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SCGP.

During the last outbreak of COVID-19 in northern provinces, SCGP has donated to Hai Duong province 10,000 premium quality paper boxes to transfer provisional contents to the lockdown zone, and 100 paper beds made from paper.

Providing timely support at critical touch points

Not solely supplying innovative applications, SCG and its subsidiaries have also joined hands to donate plentiful necessities in response with the needs at critical pandemic touch points. In the hot spot Bac Giang province, SCG Vietnam has donated 1,000 face shields to protect medical teams.

Along with this, Prime Group, another subsidiary, coordinated with Lac Viet Friendship Hospital to organise sample checking for 850 officials and employees in five business units to improve local testing capacity, contributing to the tracing and preventing COVID-19. Other SCG subsidiaries, including Prime Group, SCG Cement-Building Materials Vietnam, and SCG staff also utilised their resources to share with Vietnamese people through this difficult time of the pandemic.
