Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong at the project's construction site on July 21 |
Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong made a fact-finding trip to the construction site on July 21.
Reporting on the progress of the project, Dang Hung Thai, director of Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway's governing body, said that this project runs for 99km through Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces. Despite efforts, the project is 0.74 per cent behind the schedule, largely because of unfavourable weather conditions.
Duong Viet Roan, director of the Thang Long Projects Management Board explained that this year saw unusual rains come earlier and for much longer than last year, thus delaying the construction.
The deputy minister said that the remaining time for the project's completion is short. More rains are forecast in the coming time, therefore, the management board and contractors should build flexible construction plans to ensure the schedule is met.
Dong also listened to the contractors speak about their difficulties related to the unfavourable weather, increases in construction material costs, and the mobilisation of funding.
The project's construction began in 2020 and has been split into four construction packages. It has a total investment capital amount of $546.52 million.
