Drawing inspiration from the famous folk painting of the same name from Hang Trong, the Ly Ngu Vong Nguyet mooncake collection reimagines the picturesque scene of a carp fish gazing at the shimmering moonlight on the water.
The main subject of the painting is ly ngu, or the carp, a long-believed symbol of good fortune. The term ly ngu also shares a similar pronunciation with huu du in huu du phu quy, literally meaning well-off or abundant of wealth.
Inheriting the spirit of the artwork, both the Deluxe and Premium designs in the Ly Ngu Vong Nguyet collection also depict the brightest moon of Mid-Autumn in all its glory while the lotus – Vietnam's national flower – is placed in the frame with modesty to retain the easy-on-the-eye design.
The Deluxe box of the collection is a standing rectangle box with a side-opening flap and in a stylish navy blue with waves of cerulean blue, dashed with golden shimmers like moonlight reflecting on the water.
While keeping the design a faithful representation of the original folk painting, the box is also decorated with details of luxurious refinement, such as with the gold foil printing of the carp, or the glittery coating on top of the shining wave.
If you prefer a more modern approach and luxurious quality, the limited Premium edition will meet that demand with a colourful polygonal style design and UV-coating finish.
With an acknowledgment of the fact that mooncakes are not just delightful bites for the mid-Autumn season but also gracious gifts for loved ones or business partners, InterContinental Saigon pays great care to the quality of each mooncake in the collection.
