FPT honoured at Global CSR & ESG Summit and Awards 2023

FPT surpassed 250 nominations from businesses around the world to be honoured in two major categories. At the Global CSR & ESG Summit and Awards 2023, FPT achieved the highest ranking in the group of businesses in Vietnam with a market capitalisation of $1 billion or more.

FPT's Hope School was the only representative from Vietnam to win the "Best Community Programme Award" award. The Global CSR & ESG Award is one of the world's most prestigious and large-scale awards for sustainable development. This is the second time the award ceremony has been held in Vietnam.

Meaningful message

More than 200 guests and 20 speakers were present at the event. They were influential leaders from government agencies, organisations, and businesses in many countries around the world.

This is a testament to the recognition from the international community for Vietnam's efforts and positive actions in the process of promoting investment in ESG (environment, society, and governance) and CSR (corporate social responsibility).

With the theme "Driving Transformational Change Beyond Greenwashing", the Global CSR & ESG event was organised as a forum for relevant stakeholders to raise issues and challenges, thereby discussing and exploring typical ESG and CSR strategies as well as many environmentally friendly solutions and technologies.

Director of Hy Vong School received the award for the most impressive community activity globally

At the 15th edition, the awards are judged on a global and national level. Thanks to its sustainable development strategy, Hope School is deemed one of the most impressive CSR projects.

FPT has formulated its sustainable development strategy to ensure the harmony of three elements, including economic development, community support, and environmental protection. At the same time, when establishing an action programme, FPT also refers to the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations and the GRI Standards.

Throughout its 35-year development journey, FPT has always focused on community support activities to bring the best benefits to related parties. FPT consistently explores good models to apply in business activities. Each year, the group spends 3 per cent of its revenue on sustainable development activities.

One of FPT's key focus areas is investing in education, including the Hope School project. The Hope School is a place to nurture children who lost their parents due to COVID-19. It was founded by FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh.

The school has entered its second year of operation and has attracted the attention of many sponsors, such as the Japanese government, individuals, organisations, and businesses in the world and Vietnam.

The school has adopted and taught more than 300 children from all over the country. In the 2023–2024 school year alone, the school welcomed 100 more students in Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri provinces.

FPT wishes to provide a good life for future generations, especially for children in disadvantaged circumstances, through providing a quality learning environment and opportunities to access modern technology. The efforts contribute to shortening the gap between education and digital technology, as well as equipping children with the necessary skills to find jobs in today's era.

ESG and CSR strategy help FPT win big

In the process of developing to become a global corporation, FPT is committed to sustainable development. Currently, green growth and circular economy development are becoming a global trend to reduce greenhouse emissions, aiming for carbon neutrality and sustainable development. The sustainable development trend has been forming new "rules of the game" in the trade and investment playground. Many developed economies in the world have set stricter environmental regulations for foreign partners.

Businesses around the world, as well as FPT's partners, and customers also require strict compliance with the sustainable development and green development criteria. In particular, as a technology corporation, FPT's ESG strategy focuses on building and developing products and ecosystems towards green development.

For example, a traditional manufacturer in the vehicle industry in Germany uses FPT's solution to optimise the entire production, logistics, and operations processes. The solution also helps reduce emissions and save energy.

In electric cars, FPT develops charging station system management software and embedded software running on charging stations to solve the problem of optimal management and consumption of electrical energy. Some green applications of FPT and its development partners are being commonly used in Singapore, such as Changi, Parkway MyHealth360, and others.

In addition, FPT is the first private enterprise in Vietnam to set aside a day for all employees in the group to spend time thinking or contributing practical action to the community.

FPT encourages each employee to directly participate in volunteer activities or contribute at least one day's salary to the FPT People's Fund for the community. The funds are used to support disadvantaged people and staff in difficulties, as well as carry out volunteer activities across the country.

Spreading the spirit of love, FPT will continue to deploy and organise charity programmes globally, such as the Footprints of Happiness fundraising run event, the construction and renovation of schools in difficult localities, and building bridges in the Mekong Delta.
