FPT joins dialogue at Singapore Regional Business Forum

The dialogue featured Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Republic of Singapore, Dr. Tan See Leng; Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; executive chairman of Pacific International Lines Teo Siong Seng; chairman of FPT Corporation Dr. Truong Gia Binh; and former president of European Chamber of Commerce Singapore Federico Donato.

During the conversation session, as a key highlight of the forum, they exchanged robust views on topics such as the energy transition, digital interoperability, business development and the tensions as well as prospects of building a socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable future for the region.

Minister Dung emphasised the expansion of the cooperation space within the framework of the Vietnam-Singapore Economic Connectivity Agreement and the digital economy - green economy partnership, with a focus on areas in which Vietnam and Singapore have strengths and complement each other, such as digital transformation, energy transformation, green finance, as well as science and technology.

The FPT chairman said that digital transformation and green transformation must go hand in hand. Digital technology can make an important contribution to reducing emissions globally, towards green economic development.

He also mentioned popular green apps developed by FPT and its partners, such as iChangi, Parkway MyHealth360, Singapore Airlines Kris+, and MyStarhub.

Binh, however, noted that the most important thing in digital transformation and green transformation was to change the perception and thinking of state managers as well as businesses.

Also at the event, FPT's booth attracted the attention of many Singaporean business representatives. Singapore and Asia Pacific are one of FPT Software's three major markets. In 2020 and 2021, FPT in Singapore (FPT Asia Pacific) was honoured by Gartner as the top 40 out of more than 2,000 major technology service providers here.

In Singapore, FPT provides multi-sector services such as transportation, aviation, real estate, commerce, finance and banking, healthcare and telecommunications.

This was the first time Singapore Business Federation (SBF) had chosen to hold an overseas edition of this forum. Besides the “conversation with Ministers” segment, there were three other plenaries covering topics such as regional sustainability, opportunities for investors, tech innovation in ASEAN’s digitalisation development, and the future of human capital. A series of side activities included MOU signings, a launch ceremony, presentations by Vietnamese provincial leaders, online and offline business matching, an exhibition and industrial visits.

The choice of organising the first inaugural edition of SRBF in Vietnam reflects the importance Singapore places on its relationship with the country, with a focus on expanding cooperation to new growth areas such as the digital economy, cybersecurity, clean energy, sustainable development, and smart cities.

The seventh SRBF is one of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations and 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Vietnam. The event attracted over 800 business leaders, senior government officials and diplomats from more than 420 companies and organisations across 32 countries and economies.
