The first “Heritage Golf Tournament” 2024 will be organised for the first time in Ninh Binh from November 30 - December 1, with the mission of combining sport and heritage conservation.

The first “Heritage Golf Tournament” Ninh Binh 2024 is being organised by Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports and Vietnam External Relation Information JSC and relevant parties at the Royal Ninh Binh Golf Course.

With the participation of 144 golfers from agencies, units, organisations, and the business community, the tournament is a meaningful event connecting sports activities with cultural heritage conservation.

The tournament is a practical activity to celebrate and respond to Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23, following the series of activities of the 3rd Ninh Binh Festival with the theme "Heritage Flow" held from November 24-30.

“We selected Ninh Binh as the place to organise the first heritage golf tournament as a land of talented people, where there are many famous spiritual destinations. The event is considered a domestic and international media channel that contributes to promoting heritage, serving the development of tourism, economy, and society of the locality with heritage," said Nguyen Xuan Khanh, chairman of the boards of directors of VRI at a media meeting on November 9.

"The long-term goal, we have plans to expand this golf tournament to all localities with heritage, especially prioritising localities with recognised by UNESCO. After this first season, we also expect that from next year, the organising board will hold two tournaments annually in spring and autumn.

“We are pleased to announce that Ninh Binh agreed to have the companionship of the tournament for the second season. In addition, Lam Dong also agreed to host the 2025 season right after listening to our sharing about the meaning of the golf tournament.”

Nguyen Mạnh Cuong, director of Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports said, “Compared to normal golf tournaments, in which golfers concentrate on improving their health, their level and competitive spirit, and simultaneously exchanging with partners, meanwhile at this golf tournament, golfers have a mission to contribute to promoting heritage,” said Cuong.

At the tournament, golfers and heritage lovers will participate in the seminar “Connecting Heritage and Golf: Opportunities and Challenges,” which will take place on November 30.

The organising board received several presentations highlighting the interesting combination of sports on one side with the dynamism, movement and sedimentation of heritage to create the image of “heritage that never sleeps,” creating sustainable values. In addition, golfers will have the opportunity to join the Ninh Binh Heritage Tour to visit and experience the relics in the Trang An scenic complex and Hoa Lu ancient town.
