The 14 new cases include 12 people arriving to Vietnam from overseas, three of whom are Vietnamese nationals and nine foreigners. 11 of them entered Vietnam on March 2 on Flight VN0054 of Vietnam Airlines.
With the new infections, Vietnam is in the second scenario of fighting against the novel epidemic.
So far, COVID-19 has been reported in 10 cities and provinces: Vinh Phuc, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Danang, Lao Cai, Thua Thien-Hue, and Ninh Binh.
The country reported 16 infections of COVID-19 between January 17 and March 5. All of them are treated successfully and discharged from hospitals.
Globally, COVID-19 has now infected 109,650 people, including 80,699 in China. As many as 101 countries and territories outside of China have reported a total of 28,951 infections.
The fatal epidemic has killed over 3,800 people, including 704 deaths outside China.
