The winners of the Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2020 were announced on September 21 |
The event is organised by Vietnam Heritage Magazine under Vietnam Airlines Corporation to promote the image of the country, Vietnamese life and people, especially internationall-recognised heritages.
According to the organisers, the Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards – Heritage Journey contest was held with the desire to create a playground for domestic and foreign photographers and journalists.
The photo collection “Muoi ham Tuyet Diem” (Tuyet Diem salt) by Nguyen Ngoc Hoa won the special prize |
The contest was open for three months from June 1 to the end of August 31 throughout which the organisers have received great response from a large number of photographers. There were 96 sets (equivalent to about 1,000 single photos) in the photo set category while there were 277 works in the cover photo category and 28 photos introduced Vietnam Airlines' activities in the single photo category.
According to the judges, although the composition topics were still about the familiar craft villages, landscapes, heritage sites, people, festivals, customs, and cultural life in Vietnam, as well as ethnic groups, the authors have new discoveries in the way of expression, employing more modern photography techniques.
“The entries this year are of very good quality, both cover and set photos. The authors know how to pick their images and content with an eye for both journalistic and artistic expression,” said Vu Quoc Khanh, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, head of the judging board.
The board has scored and awarded 16 works and sets, including two special prizes, two first prizes, and 10 top 5 bronze prizes for the photo set and cover photo categories, as well as two winners for the single photo category.
The organising committee has also opened the photo exhibition Heritage Journey 2020 at Vietnam Nationl Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi. The exhibition will run until September 25 and will introduce the 16 winning works and series of works, along with 30 works composed on a composition trip with the theme "Far to the coastal region" which was held in July 2020.
