Vietnam GrowTech Expo 2022 was held in conjunction with Vietnam Foodtech and Techconnect & Innovation Vietnam 2022 with assistance from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and ADPEX JSC.
There were over 200 booths from 176 different businesses showcasing themselves at the International Exhibition & Forum - Foodtech & Growtech 2022 and their displays took up more than 4,000 square metres.
Along with Vietnamese businesses, other groups from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States also participated in the conference.
There was a variety of events taking place over the course of the exhibition, including the Vietnam Innovation Forum on December 7 themed Policies and Solutions to Promote Technology Application and Innovation, an open discussion titled Green Industry, Clean Agriculture, and a signing and cooperation ceremony to exchange innovative ideas.
The Vietnam Innovation Forum resumed its schedule from December 8 to 10 with in-depth advice on policies, technical solutions and upgrades, technological procedures, and intellectual property for enterprises in need.
The exhibition also bridged the gap to connect international organisations with local firms. It provided a platform for various sides to share information about their technologies, goods, and services and helped Vietnamese businesses to explore new potential markets.
International Medical Consulting Co., Ltd. (IMC) also joined the exhibition as the main sponsor.
IMC is a prominent company which offers research and manufacturing services for various goods and specialises in healthcare and beauty products with the touch of natural ingredients.
IMC’s top-notch manufacturing facilities also comply with stringent international standards including those from GMP, CGMP, US FDA, and ISO 22000.
The expo made a contribution to the promotion of commerce and the growth of the food and agricultural technology sector in Vietnam, which is a step toward achieving the objective of making Vietnam the first destination for investors.
Nguyen Hoang Linh, a healthcare consultant based in Ho Chi Minh City and an attendee at the exhibition shared with VIR, “As a healthcare consultant and a founder of a plant-based restaurant in District 3, the exhibition offered insightful knowledge for me and helped me to professionally connect with other experts in the field. I am trying to expand my experience in value-based healthcare services, particularly in food and nutrition, which will lead to an emphasis on customer satisfaction while ensuring their physical and mental health. I anticipate this will be the clear trend in the near future.”
According to the latest report by the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development, the total number of newly registered projects with foreign investment capital in the agricultural sector in Vietnam during the 2009-2021 period stood at 1,984, representing only 5.7 per cent of the total number of investment projects in the country. The total registered capital for this sector only reached $17.6 billion, accounting for 4.3 per cent of the nation's total registered investment capital.
The report noted, "In reality, foreign appetite in the agricultural sector remains minimal, which means that the untapped potential is large. Foreign investment comes mostly from some Asian nations, with a focus on a few southern provinces and Hanoi because of the good transport infrastructure these localities."
