Vietnam has approved the Hayat-Vax COVID-19 vaccine for urgent use in the prevention and control of the pandemic.

On September 10, the Ministry of Health has given conditional approval for the use of Hayat-Vax COVID-19 vaccine for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the document signed by Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of Health, the semi-finished Hayat-Vax vaccines are produced by Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. of China National Biotec Group.

It is packaged and shipped at Julphar (Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries), United Arab Emirates. In Vietnam, Vimedimex Medi-Pharma JSC proposed the vaccine for approval.

The vaccine has a protective effect of 79.34 per cent, the generation rate of neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 virus reaching 99.52 per cent. Besides, it can be stored in a normal refrigerator at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

The Hayat-Vax vaccine is the seventh vaccine licensed for use in Vietnam, along with AstraZeneca, SputnikV, Vaccine Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, and Vero Cell.
