Hue celebrates 50th liberation anniversary with string of events

The opening ceremony of National Tourism Year- Hue 2025 took place on March 25 in Hue with the theme “Hue - Ancient Capital, New Opportunities”.

A string of projects have also been completed to mark the occasion of Hue’s Liberation Day on March 26.

The National Tourism Year has returned to Hue for the second time following a decision to put the city directly under central government management from January 1.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh noted that 2025 is expected to be a milestone, marking the strong return of tourism, with the goals of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors, 120-130 million local visitors, and striving for total tourism revenue of $40 billion.

To carry out the above tasks, the DPM requested the relevant ministries and sectors to overcome challenges and coordinate to implement key tasks.

These include developing tourism infrastructure, improving services, and ensuring a safe environment, while simultaneously accelerating the preservation and promotion of heritage values ​​so that Hue remains an attractive destination on the international tourism map.

On the local side, Chairman of Hue People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong emphasised that hosting National Tourism Year 2025 is an opportunity for Hue to introduce its cultural, historical, and natural beauty to domestic and foreign tourists.

This is not only an honour but also a strong driving force for the city to continue spreading traditional cultural values.

At the same time, it is an opportunity for Hue to rise towards a sustainable development future.

“Hue wishes to hold a vibrant tourism year with a series of events, festivals, and unique art programmes to honour its heritage values, while creating opportunities for visitors to experience the harmonious combination of tradition and modernity,” said Phuong.

Pipeline of projects

Major activities also took place to mark the 50th anniversary of Hue’s liberation, such as the technical opening of Nguyen Hoang Bridge, part of the Nguyen Hoang road and Huong River overpass project. with a total investment of more than $91 million.

In Phong Dien Industrial Park, two projects have started construction. Creanza high-tech quartz sand processing factory has a total investment value approximating $87.5 million, and Dat Phuong super white flower glass factory has $80 million.

According to Hue People's Committee, several social housing projects with a combined investment value surpassing $46.7 million have been started in An Van Duong New Urban Area.

In Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone, the Chan May Logistics Centre project, invested by LEC Group Corporation with a total investment exceeding $60.5 million, also eyed construction commencement on March 26.

Another project invested by Phu Xuan Investment and Trading Services JSC has broken ground at 42 Phan Chu Trinh street in Thuan Hoa district.

The project aims to shape a commercial, service, and hotel complex to create a highlight on both sides of the An Cuu River and Dien Bien Phu street, with a total investment of $1.6 million.

Phuong noted that the projects demonstrated the determination of authorities, individuals, organisations, and businesses to build a dynamic, sustainable and prosperous Hue.
