Verón was speaking at the Navigate Your Future Summit 2024: Fine-tune Your Fortune held in Ho Chi Minh City on May 19, and his visit has attracted a great deal of attention from football fans in Ho Chi Minh City, demonstrating that Vietnam has a sufficient audience to host major international tournaments.
The South American football landscape in general, and Argentina in particular, serves as a role model for Vietnam to learn from in the process of nurturing young talents. Despite facing similar challenges in terms of infrastructure, this region has managed to produce many internationally renowned football stars by early detection of street football talents.
“Street matches are where many future football stars begin their careers,” Verón said. As president of Estudiantes de La Plata, he is currently responsible for nurturing young talents at the club.
The Navigate Your Future Summit 2024: Fine-tune Your Fortune was organised by the 4E Four E digital trading platform, along with partners from the region and around the world. The event attracted over 500 participants, including developers, entrepreneurs, technology investors, key opinion leaders, and football fans.
In March, the platform signed a global sponsorship contract with Argentina's national team, marking the collaboration between the reigning World Cup champions and one of the world’s leading digital financial platforms.
The leadership of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) warmly welcomed and expressed great enthusiasm for this collaboration. The AFA hopes that this partnership will bring new commercial value and market access opportunities for the Argentina national team, while also assisting and supporting 4E in elevating its brand position in the international market.
The event featuring Verón was a promising first step for Vietnam’s ambitions in international football.
Successfully organising international football events will help Vietnam enhance its position on the football map regionally and globally, thereby promoting the country’s image, attracting tourists, and tapping into potential investments. Particularly, this will be an opportunity to attract foreign football experts and young talents to Vietnam.
However, to turn this potential into a reality, Vietnam needs to start investing in upgrading stadium infrastructure, transportation systems, and accommodation services to meet the demands of large events. Training a professional workforce in event organisation, sports management, and hospitality should also be a priority. Ensuring security and safety for players, guests, and event attendees is also one of the top factors to consider.
