Twelve colourful hot air balloons lined the city's horizon this early morning, marking the start of the festive season in Ho Chi Minh City.

The twelve balloons were released at Thu Thiem Bridge 2 Park at 6.30am today to mark the opening of a four-day festival. It is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2022 organised by the Department of Tourism, the Department of Culture and Sport, and the People’s Committee of Thu Duc city.

The event venue is only across the Saigon River from District 1, and is around 33,000 sqm, providing ample space and convenience for festival-goers. According to organisers, up to 50,000 people are expected to enjoy various activities as part of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2022.

According to Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City Hot Air Balloon Festival promises to be one of the most exceptional activities in the city, combined with the HOZO music festival 2022, which is directed by leading musician Huy Tuan and attracted international superstars.

From the 8th to the 11th of this month, special hot air balloon demonstrations will line the city’s horizon with colourful flights.

It is free for the public, and anyone can also register for a free ride on-site or via: actiup.net/event/ngay-hoi-Khinh-khi-cau-Thanh-pho-Ho-Chi-Minh-lan-thu-2 .

There will also be an area for food and drink, art & crafts, and a family zone, etc.
