Export of first shipment of C.P. Vietnam's processed chicken to Japan

CPV Food based in Binh Phuoc province, a subsidiary of C.P. Vietnam (CPV), has announced the export of the first shipment of processed chicken to Japan.

Leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Japanese and Thai embassies in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc People's Committee, and partners of the company joined the ceremony.

The Japanese market is one of the most promising destinations for numerous businesses to export high-quality items. In order to set foot in Japan, CPV Food must ensure the traceability of the whole supply chain from materials to food processing and prove world-class manufacturing practices – including environmental and animal welfare – to meet the strict standards of Japan and other developed countries.

Previously, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sent a veterinary inspection team to CPV Food's production facility in Binh Phuoc to evaluate the production chain of processed chicken for export.

Montri Suwanposri, general director of C.P. Vietnam JSC, said that the export of the first shipment to Japan marked the success of the closed production chain of CPV Food in Binh Phuoc.

"With the first export shipment to Japan, CPV Food started the journey to bring Vietnamese processed chicken products to overseas markets," said Montri.

Japan's approval to import chicken from C.P. Vietnam has opened up great business opportunities for Vietnam's poultry industry.

At the ceremony, the Department of Animal Health handed over the health certificate to CPV Food. They joined the ceremony announcing the export of the first shipment of processed chicken meat to Japan, visited the factory, and tested the food.

CPV Food's factory was inaugurated in 2020 in Binh Phuoc. This is the most modern and largest processing and breeding factory for chicken for export in Vietnam with an investment capital of $250 million.

In the first phase, the capacity of the complex is one million broiler chickens per week, equivalent to 50 million chickens per year or a processing output of 116,000 tonnes per year. Of which, 55 per cent of the processed meat is for export, and 45 per cent is for domestic supply.
