Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The expressed the agreement at a meeting on June 21, when he and other officials discussed Bamboo Airways’ proposal to adjust its investment plan in line with the prime minister’s adjustment to aviation development by 2020, with a vision towards 2030. Accordingly, the airline’s aircraft fleet will be increased to 30 from the current 10 by 2030.
The MoT asked the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) to work closely with relevant agencies to assess the feasibility of the airline’s adjustment plan, as well as its forecasts on aviation growth in each period by 2030, infrastructure capacity, and human resources.
The MoT required Bamboo Airways it to work with the CAAV and other relevant agencies to explain questions arising related to the proposal.
Based on the assessment results, the MoT will submit the proposal to the prime minister for approval.
According to a representative of Bamboo Airways, since getting a license and operating the first flight on January 16, 2019, Bamboo Airways has 10 aircraft, operating over 6,600 flights and handling 800,000 passengers. The airline now runs flights to 24 routes.
