Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot will begin code-sharing from July

Accordingly, passengers of Vietnam Airlines can travel on flights operated by Aeroflot on the routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Moscow as well as between Moscow and St. Petersburg, Ufa, and Krasnodar.

At the same time, Aeroflot passengers can book flights between Hanoi and Moscow; Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang; Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc and Nha Trang operated by Vietnam Airlines.

For passengers wishing to transfer flights, the partnership between the two companies will help passengers to book and check in to flights once only with Vietnam Airlines or Aeroflot for the entire journey.

Talking about the code-share agreement, Le Hong Ha, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, said, “The partnership between Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot allows the two airlines to combine the strengths of their flight networks to promote their regional presence. In particular, this is also an opportunity for passengers to experience services according to the four-star international standards of Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot, and have more convenient options to visit famous destinations in Vietnam and the Russian Federation. We believe that the partnership will be a solid foundation, as well as a good start for Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot to move towards deeper co-operation in the future.”

The co-operation between Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot on 11 air routes is a concrete step in the memorandum of co-operation agreement signed by the two sides at the beginning of September 2018. Under the agreement, from 2019, Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot code-share domestic routes and direct flights between Vietnam and Russia.

In the long term, the two airlines plan to establish a joint venture and expand services in aircraft carrier, catering, aircraft repair and maintenance, and cargo transport to maximise bilateral co-operation, bringing the highest benefit to customers.

Contributing to developing economic, trade, and tourism exchange between the two countries, Aeroflot currently operates direct flights between Moscow and Hanoi with a frequency of seven flights per week and between Moscow and Ho Chi Minh City with two flights per week.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines operates a direct route between Hanoi and Moscow with a frequency of three flights a week with the new generation wide-body aircraft Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

By the end of 2018, the company safely transported more than 1.6 million visitors between Vietnam and the Russian Federation after 25 years of operation. In the first four months of 2019, Vietnam Airlines recorded more than 23,000 visitors who travelled between the two countries by flights operated by the carrier.

In particular, from July 2, 2019, Vietnam Airlines will shift operations of outbound flights to Moscow from Domodedovo Airport to Sheremetyevo Airport to facilitate passengers to easily connect to domestic destinations in the Russian Federation and Europe.

On the journey to becoming a five-star international airline, Vietnam Airlines continues to improve the quality of services on outbound flights to Russia by improving snacks, launching new dishes by culinary ambassador Luke Nguyen at business class, supplementing and adding entertainment programsmes with Russian subtitles.
