Accordingly, the government has ruled that the purchase would be a "special case" under Article 26 of the Law on Public Procurement, which would allow the competent person to select a contractor/investor for the approval of the Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Health was assigned to speed up the purchase of vaccines to meet the country’s needs for COVID-19 prevention and fight.
Since February, Vietnam received more than 16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including AstraZeneca, Sputnik-V, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and Vero Cell vaccines. They include over 8.68 million doses of vaccines delivered to Vietnam via the COVAX Facility, over 3.68 million doses of AstraZeneca, over 3.8 million doses of vaccines bought by Vietnam Vaccine JSC, and over 97,000 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
