Quang Ngai shall develop six dynamic development spaces aligned with its socioeconomic development, leveraging specific characteristics of each region to ensure balanced development and promote linkages between regions while bolstering efficiency.

In light of Quang Ngai’s development planning for 2021-2030, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on November 22, the province shall develop six dynamic economic spaces to spur development.

Along with this, the driving development region is an urban cluster and service centre that encompasses Quang Ngai city and part of Son Tinh, Tu Nghia, and Nghia Hanh districts.

Quang Ngai city plays the role as of the capital of the province, the centre of administration, politics, economics, urban trade and services, research, training and career development for the entire province.

Six development spaces to create motivation for Quang Ngai
Quang Ngai continues to focus on investment and infrastructure development in important industrial areas, especially Dung Quat Economic Zone

The industrial driving force area of the province includes Binh Son district and part of Tra Bong and Son Tinh district.

In light of the planning, this is a key industrial and logistics area, oriented to develop industrial parks (IPs) with petrochemical refining, steelmaking, post-steel manufacturing industries, renewable energy, shipbuilding, wood processing, supporting industries and logistics services, seaport logistics services, and promoting international trade. The area also hosts Chu Lai international airport.

For the Quang Ngai marine eco-economic region, the idea is to develop the area into a focal centre with Duc Pho town as the epicentre, from there forming a regional fishery logistics hub, associated with the fishery logistics industry.

This focal seafood trade centre would form an industry value chain while promoting high-tech application towards sustainable exploitation.

The green forest region covers the districts of Tra Bong, Son Tay, Son Ha, Minh Long, and Ba To. This area will host highland economic centres, medicinal herb growing areas, large timber forests, forest product processing plants, and develop the forest economy associated with promoting local tourism and cultural development, creating a breakthrough in the forest economy for Quang Ngai.

Agricultural development zones encompass relatively flat terrain favourable for agricultural development between mountainous areas, forming mixed development areas specialising in producing agricultural and forest items.

In particular, Ly Son island district is oriented as the ‘frontier’ of the island tourism industry.

This area is set to grow into a high-class urban tourism area, with beach resorts, traditional festivals, and local speciality products (onions, garlic), as well as preserving and promoting fishing villages.

Besides this, the presence of strategic economic corridors is indispensable for the province’s socioeconomic development.

As such, Quang Ngai shall be developing the North-South economic corridor including Dung Quat, Quang Ngai city and Sa Huynh; the northern East-West corridor, including Ly Son - Dung Quat - Tra Bong - Tra My along National Highway 24C, expanding connection to Tra My and Nam Giang border gate; and the economic corridor connecting with the region along provincial roads 622, 626 and 24B connecting Tra Bong to Ba To.

The scheme also emphasises investment in developing modern infrastructure both economically and socially, creating motivation for development as a key task of the province.

In the year to date, Quang Ngai has posted impressive results across the board.

Specifically, the gross regional product expanded 2.24 per cent; total budget revenue approximated $1.2 billion, a 22 per cent jump over the estimate assigned by the central government and exceeding 19.4 per cent of the estimate assigned by Quang Ngai People's Council.
