Sembcorp Industries pledges $742,000 in aid for Vietnam's COVID-19 fight

Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) has announced a pledge of S$1 million ($741,760)to support Vietnam’s fight against the COVID-19 crisis, with an immediate focus on providing critical medical equipment to two major hospitals in Binh Duong.

Sembcorp Industries will support two hospitals in Binh Duong with crucial medical equipment

Sembcorp will provide one real-time RT-PCR system and 12 high-end BIPAP ventilators to Binh Duong General Hospital and 65 patient monitors to Becamex International Hospital in Binh Duong. The medical equipment is targeted to be delivered in batches, starting with a first delivery on September 17 to enable the hospitals to deploy them for critical patient care.

A virtual handover ceremony was held with the participation of Binh Duong People’s Committee leaders, Mai Phuoc Dung, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Singapore, Jaya Ratnam, Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Binh Duong Fatherland Front Committee as well as executives from Binh Duong General Hospital and Becamex International Hospital (Binh Duong).

We stand in solidarity with the Vietnamese people as they face one of the hardest hurdles in the global fight against the pandemic. Every effort counts in saving human lives. We salute the dedication of the frontline workers and hope the situation will ease quickly soon.”

Since 1996, Sembcorp has participated in Vietnam’s industrialisation through Vietnam Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs); Vietnam’s first independent power project, the Phu My 3 BOT Power Company; Vietnam-Singapore Smart Energy Solutions; Sembcorp Infra Services warehouses; and The Habitat Binh Duong residential project.
