Run For The Heart raises VND5 billion for children with congenital heart defects

With the meaningful message Heart to Heart – Raise the Lives, Run For The Heart (RFTH) is an annual charity run organised by Gamuda Land Vietnam and Heartbeat Vietnam to raise funds for deprived children with congenital heart defects from across the country, providing a brighter future for the children and their families.

Launched in 2013, the eight events have raised more than VND35 billion ($1.48 million), helping more than 1,300 children with congenital heart defects receive life-saving surgery to recover and live healthy, productive lives. With the result of the ninth campaign, RFTH has raised a total fund of more than VND40 billion ($1.69 million). The cumulative number of Vietnamese children saved by the drive has now exceeded 1,500.

With the theme Dream Run, the Organising Committee wishes to spread the initiative’s meaning to the community and hopes everyone who participates in Run For The Heart 2023 will be a dream carrier and deliver life-saving opportunities to more little hearts. RFTH 2023 is a series of continuous fundraising activities that have combined both online activities and live events since mid-November last year.

Along with common fundraising campaigns such as online communication campaigns in newspapers and on social networks, raising funds from residents in townships developed by Gamuda Land, and calling for donations from partners, the programme continues its cooperation with Vietrace365 – one of the most popular online running competition platforms among the Vietnamese running community – to spread the running track across the country. The Run For The Heart Online race on this platform has received a positive response from runners nationwide, with 647 athletes participating and a record of 30,327km completed.

On the morning of February 12 in Celadon City in Ho Chi Minh City, after more than two months of fundraising and awareness-building activities, RFTH 2023 had ended with a companion run day and closing ceremony to announce the total funds raised.

Representing the Organising Committee to give speech at the ceremony, Angus Liew, chairman of Gamuda Land Vietnam shared, “The slogan Heart to heart – Raise the Lives truly represents the spirit of this programme and the generosity of the community. I’m deeply touched and appreciate the enthusiastic support given to Run For The Heart. This is what has produced such success year after year. Gamuda Land will not stop its efforts to maintain this loving journey over the years ahead, to join hands with the community and provide a brighter future for thousands of disadvantaged children in Vietnam.”

“The VinaCapital Foundation is thrilled and thankful to know that RFTH 2023 has been another huge success thanks to our long-term partner Gamuda Land, the donors, the celebrities, and the community,” Rad Kivette, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation stated.

“Together with Gamuda Land and the community, Heartbeat Vietnam is motivated and determined to ensure we fulfill our mission of providing life-saving heart surgery to thousands of children in Vietnam and empowering their families to lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives,” Kivette concluded.
