Hoiana raises $20,000 for children with congenital heart defects

Hoiana kicks off its festive season with a meaningful charity campaign.

On December 8, Hoiana Resort & Golf officially handed over a pledge of more than VND520 million ($22,000) to the "Heartbeat Vietnam" programme founded by VCF in the resort’s Christmas Tree Light-up Ceremony.

The donations were raised through the "One Heart - Thousand Beats" campaign, a partnership between Hoiana and VinaCapital Foundation (VCF). Hoiana set a fundraising goal of VND500 million by December 8 towards providing lifesaving heart surgeries for 13 children.

Within 15 days of calling for donations, the campaign surpassed its goal by attracting over $22,000, equivalent to the cost of 14 heart surgeries.

Hoiana Resort & Golf allocated $15,000 from its corporate social responsibility budget to the fundraising campaign. The remaining $6,750 came from the Hoiana’s executive leaders, staff members and partners. The campaign will be extended to February 15 for more donations from the resort’s guests during holiday seasons.

Since 2006, the “Heartbeat Vietnam” programme has saved and changed the lives of over 10,000 children with congenital heart defects across Vietnam.

There are approximately 15,000 infants born with congenital heart defects a year in Vietnam, 85 per cent of whom will not live to pass their 18^th birthday without timely intervention and surgery, according to the Ministry of Health. The majority of children with congenital heart defects are from poor families in rural areas.

The support from Hoiana helps more children receive lifesaving heart surgery and opens up life-changing opportunities for their families. Studies from Heartbeat Vietnam provide data indicating that 68 per cent of beneficiaries’ families improve economically and escape poverty as a result of healthy children.

This is the third time that Hoiana Resort & Golf has joined hands with the “Heartbeat Vietnam” programme to save the lives of unfortunate children. Previously, in 2022, Hoiana Resort & Golf financially supported the cost of heart surgeries for 10 children.

Hoiana has accompanied VCF since the first day, participating in 10 programmes and initiatives, thereby contributing more than $337,000 to the local community.

This holiday season, besides VCF, Hoiana Resort & Golf has also partnered with Mercedes-Benz An Du Danang to carry out the “Seasonal Wonders” campaign. Local and international travellers are invited to unwind in style on the pure shores of Central Vietnam and immerse their senses in a wonderland of holiday celebrations from December 1, 2023, to February 15, 2024.
