Hoiana Resort & Golf and VinaCapital raise funds for sick children

Coinciding with the spirit of the upcoming holidays, Hoiana Resort & Golf reminds us of the meaning of love and sharing to create a brighter future for many underprivileged children, aiming to raise VND500 million ($20,000) for necessary heart surgeries. The charity drive runs from November 24 to December 8

Leading the way by setting an example, Hoiana Resort & Golf has already committed $15,000 from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) budget. The rest of the donations will be funded by Hoiana staff, guests, and partners. The final total amount of money will be announced on December 8 and then awarded to Heartbeat Vietnam during Hoiana’s Christmas Tree Light-up ceremony.

Approximately, 16,000 children are born every year in Vietnam with CHD, with half requiring treatment in cardiovascular hospitals. A quarter of babies born with complex CHD issues will not see their first birthday without corrective surgery.

Founded in 2006 by VCF, Heartbeat Vietnam funds life-saving heart operations for financially disadvantaged children with CHD in Vietnam. With help from provincial government organisations and insurance coverage, the cost for a donor to cover a child’s heart surgery through Heartbeat Vietnam is just $1,200, one-third of the usual $3,600 cost of the operation. The programme also provides the cost of pre-treatment and post-operative care for the children, including nutritional support, travel fees, and health check-ups, as well as scholarships so they can remain in school.

Last year, through Scar of Life 10, Heartbeat Vietnam's annual fundraising event, Hoiana Resort & Golf contributed just under $8,500. This year, the resort has carried out more than 10 CSR activities to support the local community. The resort has recently been honoured by VIR for its contribution to sustainable development in Vietnam over the past five years.
