Panasonic held an opening ceremony for a film-making programme Kid Witness News 2025 in Hanoi on June 9 with the participation of 16 excellent child filmmaking groups alongside parents, teachers, and partners.

In its 18th edition, Kid Witness News has continued to attract children and teenagers aged from 10 to 18. The initiative received 200 scripts from 400 students nationwide. This year's works demonstrate the multidimensional, fresh thinking, and independent perspectives of the younger generation.

The course will run in June and July, and students can experience the entire filmmaking process, from scriptwriting to directing, acting, filming, and post-production. In addition, extracurricular activities will help develop students’ soft skills, such as teamwork, critical thinking, planning, and social awareness.

Oka Hiroyuki, director of Panasonic Vietnam, shared, “For nearly two decades, Kid Witness News has been a creative and inspiring playground for Vietnamese children, the future generation of the country. I believe that Vietnamese children love this initiative. Kid Witness News is not simply a summer camp, it is a journey of growing up. I have been happy to receive positive feedback from parents and students in previous seasons.”

Themed “Discovering Vietnamese culture through the lens of children”, this year’s event features familiar topics such as the environment, sports, and communication, while creating opportunities for children to express their viewpoints and connect more deeply with their homeland’s heritage.

In addition to filmmaking training with professional equipment, children can also experience culture through activities with the Hanoi Museum. This will be a rich source of material for them to create authentic and emotional stories.

"We appreciate and pay attention to cultural projects like Kid Witness News 2025. Panasonic has brought the opportunity to learn and get familiar with national culture for the future owners of the country. We hope that through this programme, children will learn more about national pride, respect, and gratitude for their traditional cultural values, contributing to shaping Vietnamese people,” Nguyen Tien Da, director of the Hanoi Museum, said.

This year, Panasonic is collaborating with the TPD Centre for Film Talent Development and the Hanoi Museum to offer a series of practical and engaging experiences. One initiative is becoming a child reporter to make a short report at the Panasonic factory. Children can also exchange and learn from famous directors and actors who will directly accompany, guide, and inspire them on their filmmaking journey. They can visit traditional cultural and artistic spaces to find ideas and creative materials for their works.

Another initiative is learning acting at the Youth Theatre, a national cultural exchange space that combines a long tradition with youthfulness, dynamism, and modernity. For the first time, filmmaking groups are being handed the latest generation of Panasonic Lumix filming equipment with outstanding image quality thanks to the Micro Four Thirds sensor. Children can easily edit cinematic movies with 4K recording mode, even when they are new to filming. With a compact design, it will be convenient and easy for young camera operators to record every moment.
