Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc has emphasised that innovation is based on science and technology. During five years of establishment, the NIC has built innovation policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises, completed the infrastructure of operating facilities; built preferential policies for innovation; supported businesses in accessing resources; and developed high-quality human resources.

"The establishment of NIC demonstrates the government's strong determination to enable innovation to be the growth driver of the country in the new era," said Ngoc.

Vu Quoc Huy, director of the NIC, said that this platform helped Vietnamese talents worldwide interact, create new ideas and turn them into high-value products and services.

"During the 5th anniversary of NIC, Innovate Vietnam 2024 is a place to connect, meet, and look back on the five-year journey of formation and development, highlighting the aspiration - pioneer - breakthrough of the NIC," Huy said and added that the award categories have changed a lot to become more diverse and match consumer needs this year.

Also at the press conference, the NIC launched the Vietnam Innovation Network Platform, connecting leading experts with startups and businesses. This is the playground for all Vietnamese talents around the world to discuss cooperation and new ideas, and realise them to become high-value products and services.

The NIC was established on October 2, 2019, under Decision No.1269/QD-TTg with the function of supporting and developing the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem, contributing to innovation and growth based on sci-tech development.
