The seminar, under the chairmanship of Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, was the result of close cooperation between the state, universities, and enterprises in Vietnam.
At the seminar, leaders of localities, universities, and major enterprises in the semiconductor industry shared experiences, analysed current challenges, and proposed effective cooperation strategies.
The seminar discussed how enterprises can actively contribute to the training and skills development process for human resources, diversifying resources for training, promoting public-private cooperation, diversifying training types, providing internship programmes, cooperating in research and development, building a working environment, and creating better conditions for career development.
Nguyen Van Quang, Secretary of Danang Party Committee, said that the city is striving to create a favourable environment for businesses to participate in developing human resources in the semiconductor industry.
"The city has been implementing many solutions and tasks, focusing on building a legal basis to attract investment; preparing land and infrastructure; and cooperating with businesses in training and attracting experts in microchips, semiconductors, and AI," he said.
Vu Hai Quan, director of Ho Chi Minh City National University, stated that the participation of state agencies and businesses in the training process is extremely necessary.
"This participation and cooperation help improve the quality of training, thereby creating stronger conditions for students after graduation and meeting market needs. The current cooperation model between the NIC and Ho Chi Minh City National University, FPT and training schools, educational institutions, and enterprises needs to be replicated," Quan said.
Truong Gia Binh, chairman of FPT, said that the key factor to enhancing cooperation between the state, universities, and enterprises in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry is close and effective coordination between the three parties.
"Specifically, there needs to be a clear mechanism to share information, resources, and experience among the relevant parties. In addition, the role of building training programmes is suitable to the actual needs of the semiconductor industry to realise the goal of training human resources," Binh said.
The closing ceremony of the basic VLSI circuit design programme |
At the event, a ceremony for the programme on very large-scale integrated (VLSI) circuit design took place to conclude the three-month course, which was organised by the NIC in collaboration with FPT Corporation, Tresemi from Silicon Valley, and chip design group Cadence, as well as some universities.
The course focused on the process and principles of physical design for VLSI circuits, including skills to optimise timing, area, power consumption, reliability and manufacturing feasibility. In addition, students received in-depth practical knowledge of using industry-standard tools for design and analysis. The participants were mainly final-year students of technical universities from across the country.
The programme selected more than 70 excellent students from major universities across the country to receive scholarships and participate. Specifically, nearly 20 students have been accepted to work at large corporations specialising in microchip design such as Marvell, Synopsys, FPT, Faraday, and Samsung.
Some of them are third-year students, and most of the remaining students have received scholarship programmes to continue their postgraduate training abroad. Certificates were also awarded to students who had successfully completed the course.
