The wave of global economic fluctuations has been posing new challenges for businesses as they pursue their goals of growth and sustainable development. In particular, the ability to apply technical solutions to optimise data exploitation while enhancing consistency and seamlessness in operations is an urgent requirement.
The larger the scale of a business, the more coordination it requires between many departments and operations, and the more it requires the presence of a unified tech platform that integrates AI solutions, machine learning, and other tools. Advanced data analytics to help administrators and human resources teams significantly.
Experts on digital transformation from renowned consulting firms such as ABeam Consulting Vietnam, world-class solutions SAP, and Microsoft attended the Business Executive Summit 2023 event on December 8, bringing multidimensional perspectives on popular digital transformation solutions to help enterprises respond to the considerable changes and create momentum for growth and sustainable development.
Ryohei Oda, managing director of ABeam Consulting Vietnam, shared, "There are two basic approaches to digital transformation, defensive and offensive. In a defensive position, the digitalisation process is aimed at improving business performance through the application of digital technologies. Meanwhile, an offensive strategy focuses on expanding scale based on technology."
"Many businesses are currently focused on strengthening their foundation and addressing existing challenges before shifting to a more proactive approach," added Oda.

Unified enterprise data systems like SAP S/4 Hana can deliver benefits that go beyond optimising business processes. Based on the integrated database and analysis of SAP S/4 Hana, administrators can make wise decisions, helping companies increase flexibility and competitiveness in a more timely manner.
However, digital transformation is not just a story about technology. Ravi Ganagampalli, senior cloud solution architect for SAP on Microsoft Azure, emphasised the role of strategy. “Through deploying SAP systems on Microsoft Cloud, businesses can quickly access the latest technology products that SAP and Microsoft are building," he said.
However, quite often, we see businesses still in the same old rut - setting up these business-critical systems with the old approach. "Therefore, a well-defined transformation strategy with clear goals and objectives is crucial in ensuring that technology solutions are effectively leveraged to drive meaningful change," he added.

In addition, the experts agreed and asserted the role of the human factor in the success or failure of the digital transformation process. According to Oda, the understanding and commitment of business leaders play a crucial role.
"Some CEOs I know have a very in-depth understanding of technology and are effectively applying data from the system into their business processes. Businesses lacking tech-savvy leadership risk falling behind in the digital sprint, leaving the podium to those who embrace the new tools and technologies," he said.
Triet Tran, solutions director at SAP Vietnam, also stressed the importance of creating a culture that relies on technology and systems to work.
"A typical business today will have three generations working together. Although the Gen SAP S/4 Hana tool creates a space for connection and collaboration between all generations of enterprise personnel and is the foundation to digitalise the knowledge and experience of the older generation, it can also carry old inadequacies forward," Tran explained.
"With the ability to adapt and learn quickly, Gen Z can support and promote tech adoption with the elements that help build a strong culture."
He recommended that businesses should choose to apply the right tools, regularly train employees, and enhance decision-making based on data and technology.
