Following the launch of the Bangkok-Danang and Bangkok-Phu Quoc direct flights, the Thai airline will cater non-stop daily fights between Hanoi and Chiang Mai.
Speaking about the new flight route, Varong Israsena Na Ayudhya, vice president of sales at Bangkok Airways, noted that following the positive reception of the Bangkok-Danang and Bangkok-Phu Quoc routes in 2017, Bangkok Airways saw great prospects in the Vietnamese tourism market.

After Danang and Phu Quoc, Hanoi was chosen as the airline’s next focus with the intent to promote the brand image of Bangkok Airways as a unique yet friendly airline to Vietnam as well as the world.”
Varong further added: “Indeed, the newly-opened route was designed for both Hanoi residents and global citizens who wish to explore another stunning destination in Thailand such as Chiang Mai. As a result, the Hanoi-Chiang Mai route could become a diplomatic bridge between the two countries to further tourism, economic, cultural, and social ties.”
Songkrot Palakawong Na Ayuthaya, director of corporate communications of Bangkok Airways, said: “Our latest research regarding local travelling patterns and preferences revealed that 75 per cent of the respondents would visit or revisit Chiang Mai. Furthermore, Chiang Mai was favoured by Vietnamese tourists for its beautiful scenery, cultural uniqueness, safety and friendliness, all-year festivals, and affordable travelling costs, which gave the airline great incentives to establish a direct flight to Chiang Mai, firstly from Hanoi.”
