The ceremony was attended by General Phan Van Giang, member of the Politburo, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defense, Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, along with other leaders from central agencies, former leaders of the Party and state, as well as leaders from various provinces, cities, and localities.

The event was held with great solemnity and featured two main parts: the commemorative ceremony and a vibrant artistic programme comprising three chapters “Reunification of the Homeland,” “New Spring Seasons,” and “Aspiration for Prosperity.”
The performances incorporated cutting-edge technologies such as drone light shows, 3D mapping, laser displays, and high-altitude fireworks, creating a lively Atmosphere that received enthusiastic support from the public.
In his commemorative speech, Secretary of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Party Committee Pham Viet Thanh emphasised that April 27, 1975, stands as an indelible milestone in the province’s revolutionary history.
"Over the past half-century, from a locality that endured immense suffering and devastation caused by war, thanks to the care, support, and leadership of the central government, and fuelled by the tradition of unity, dynamism, creativity, and the resilient spirit of the local people, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has risen strongly and achieved comprehensive development," Thanh said.
According to Ba Ria-Vung Tau People's Committee, during 2021–2025, the province maintained one of the highest regional GDP growth rates in the country.
Infrastructure has been comprehensively and systematically invested in, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau remains among the top cities and provinces in both domestic and foreign investment attraction.
“The quality of life and happiness indices of residents have continuously improved. Notably, since 2022, the province has eliminated multidimensional poverty and near-poverty according to national standards. Healthcare, education, cultural, and sports infrastructures have been significantly enhanced,” Thanh said.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau leads the nation in offering 100 per cent tuition fee support for all education levels and providing free health insurance for residents aged 65 and older.
“Key indicators in culture, society, and human development have all achieved outstanding results, affirming the province's consistent principle that economic development must serve the people, with no trade-offs between economic growth, environmental protection, and social welfare,” he added.
"Proud of the achievements we have attained, our generation today is even more acutely aware of our responsibility before history. Over the past years, we have achieved many successes, but now is the time to focus on addressing the next urgent challenges to further develop the economy and society, and to enhance the living standards and happiness of our people," he continued.
Celebrating 50 years of liberation is also a moment for Ba Ria-Vung Tau to look towards the future with a strong aspiration for innovation and breakthroughs.
It is also time to reorganise the two-tier government system and proceed with the provincial merger to create new momentum and new space for development.
“Under this plan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, together with Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City, will be merged into a new Ho Chi Minh City, accounting for more than one-tenth of the country's population and one-fourth of the national GDP. This major transformation is revolutionary in scale and marks a historic turning point," he emphasised.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang, member of the Politburo, Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission and Minister of Defense highly praised the solidarity and resilience of Ba Ria-Vung Tau over the past 50 years.
“The province has achieved strong development with an impressive economic growth rate of 11.72 per cent, along with increasingly synchronised infrastructure, affirming its role as a key growth driver for both the region and the whole country,” Giang said.
Giang urged the province to continue focusing on six key tasks, emphasising the importance of fostering patriotism, developing the marine economy, implementing breakthrough solutions in digital transformation, encouraging science and technology, developing a high-quality workforce, improving healthcare and education, and firmly maintaining national defence and security.
“In particular, the province must enhance efforts to unlock and maximise all available resources and advantages to accelerate economic growth, drive breakthroughs in policy mechanisms, develop transport infrastructure, and restructure the economy toward a green economy model. This includes encouraging green industry, renewable energy, and a circular economy closely linked to environmental protection and climate change adaptation,” Giang said.
In tourism, the province should develop coastal urban tourism chains linking Vung Tau, Long Hai, Ho Tram and Binh Chau into a high-quality tourism hub with rich and diverse offerings, reaching national and international standards.
On this occasion, Ba Ria-Vung Tau presented 20 gratitude gifts to delegates who are revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.
The 50th anniversary celebration of the province’s liberation was not only a time to revisit its proud history but also a powerful affirmation of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s aspirations for advancement and firm confidence in its future development.
Entering a new era, the province is determined to uphold its traditions, strengthen unity, and embrace innovation to continue writing new golden chapters for the homeland and the nation.
