Nearly 82 per cent of Vietnam's population aged 18 and older are fully vaccinated

Duong Thi Hong, deputy director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, at a roundtable on vaccination held by the Ministry of Health on December 17, said that the fully-vaccinated adult population (aged 18 and older) reached over 80 per cent.

According to the COVID-19 vaccination portal, as of December 18, the country has administered nearly 137.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with nearly 82 per cent of the adult population being fully vaccinated.

At present, cities and provinces are accelerating COVID-19 vaccination. As of December 17, 97 per cent of the population has received their first shot. About 20 out of 63 cities and provinces have administered the first shot to less than 90 per cent of the population aged 18 and older. The five provinces with the lowest vaccination rate are Ha Giang, Quang Nam, Cao Bang, Thai Binh, and Bac Lieu. As many as 17 cities and provinces have fully vaccinated more than 90 per cent of the population.

Regarding vaccination for children aged 12-17, the Ministry of Health said that over 8.24 million doses have been administered, including 6.3 million first shots.

The 69.1 per cent of children aged 12-17 have received their first shot of COVID-19 vaccination. Quang Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu, and Hau Giang have completed full vaccination for this age group.
