Three zero-trust security technologies for banks, financial service organisations, and insurance companies were introduced at the Smart Banking 2023 international conference and exhibition held in Hanoi on October 6 to help them comply with stringent information security regulations.

The three advanced security technologies are designed to maximise security for banks and financial organisations worldwide. They are the solution of OPSWAT, a cybersecurity company specialising in critical infrastructure security.

The technologies are Deep Content Disarm and Reconstruction (Deep CDR), which is designed to prevent zero-day attacks by removing malicious content from files and reconstructing them into safe files.

Another is Multiscanning for Malware Detection. By simultaneously utilising more than 30 leading malware detection programmes on the market, OPSWAT's Multiscanning rapidly detects over 99 per cent of malware through pattern recognition, analysis of virus behaviour, and machine learning. This technology significantly improves malware detection rates while minimising false positives.

The third is Proactive Data Loss Prevention (Proactive DLP) that enables businesses to monitor and manage sensitive data and customer information. Proactive DLP scans and prevents sensitive content in over 70 common file types from being transferred in and out of an organisation's network, ensuring data is not leaked or stolen, providing comprehensive data protection against data breaches.

Commercial banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies in Vietnam are continuously undergoing digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experiences. However, alongside the digital transformation trend come cybersecurity challenges, especially in the financial and banking sector, which cybercriminals favour.

Typical cyberattacks include intrusion, data theft, data alteration, and disruption of business operations. The government’s recent Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP emphasises this and introduces new data protection standards.

At the specialised discussion “Cyber Security in The Digital Banking Landscape” as part of Smart Banking 2023, cybersecurity OPSWAT experts demonstrated cyberattacks targeting the IT networks of banks worldwide and showed an effective cybersecurity defence system to thwart them.

Talking to VIR at the event, Huynh Tan Phat, technical support engineer at OPSWAT said, “Vietnam has huge potential for development. However, businesses in Vietnam yet to pay due attention to protecting their businesses. Usually, they focus on protecting Internet system, and access, but are yet to focus on training their manpower to protect themselves. Few companies use technologies to protect them from security problems.”
