Swing for the Kids 2020 has been delayed indefinitely until the safety of players can be guaranteed |
As an annual event, the 14th Swing for the Kids was expected to tee off on April 11, 2020 at BRG Kings Island Golf Resort in Dong Mo (Son Tay, Hanoi), gathering the business community in Vietnam for the humane cause of nurturing the hopes and dreams of talented but disadvantaged students.
However, as the novel coronavirus outbreak continues to turn the world upside down, Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) regrets to announce the postponement of its annual Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament until the situation has been resolved and the safety of all registered participants can be guaranteed.
The decision was made following the directions and guidance of the functional authorities restricting the organisation of events with a large number of participants, such as the Vietnam F1 Grand Prix, which was scheduled to be held at the same period but has also been postponed.
Swing for the Kids' organising board will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation in the coming time and follow the government's guidance to arrange a new schedule at a better time this year.
VIR hopes that the current health crisis can be soon overcome so that we can not only enjoy Vietnam’s beautiful golf courses together but also provide life-changing scholarships to those that need them the most.
Swing for the Kids 2020 is organised by VIR in collaboration with SeaBank and BRG Group, under the guidance and sponsorship of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnam Study Promotion Fund. This year, the organising board expects to raise more than VND1.8 billion ($78,260) for the Swing for the Kids scholarship fund aimed to support disadvantaged students in Vietnam and help upgrading schools' learning facilities. This season continues to receive enthusiastic support from long-standing sponsors, with Samsung Electronics Vietnam as Diamond Sponsor, Vingroup as Platinum Sponsor, and KinderWorld as Gold Sponsor. Most notably, since 2018, American entrepreneur and billionaire Bob Parsons has been supporting the event as Silver Sponsor. This year also marks the third year that Sun Group participates as Silver Sponsor, alongside many kind-hearted individuals and organisations who are welcomed to register until the official tournament tees off. Golfers can participate in the Swing for the Kids tournament for an entrance fee of VND3 million ($130.43) per individual, inclusive of the course fee, caddy, golf cart, and gala dinner. |
