The logistic service SPX launched its state-of-the-art automated sorting centre at Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park in the northern province of Bac Ninh on September 8, becoming the company's largest and most modern sorting centre in the region.
Covering a total area of 100,000 square metres, SPX's new sorting centre is predominantly automated and is capable of handling up to 2.5 million parcels per day after completing its first phase of operation and is expected to be able to process 5 million parcels per day in the next phase, with an impressive accuracy rate of up to 99.97 per cent thanks to its cutting-edge processing system.
The application of state-of-the-art technology solutions to the core sorting areas has created a precise and swift goods sorting process, ensuring that goods are processed to the highest standards with the shortest transit times, helping to enhance the overall shopping experience and cater to the ever-increasing demand for online shopping.
“Shopee and SPX Express, as part of SEA Group, represent the largest consumer internet company in Southeast Asia. It is a good example of how Singaporean companies are committed to investing in and developing the e-commerce ecosystem in Vietnam,” said Jaya Ratnam, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam at the opening ceremony.
"Investment in logistics is a key enabler for digital commerce and is helping to bring our countries closer together within the ASEAN community, and in particular, it enables small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the growing digital economy," Ratnam added.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Kim Anh, director of SPX said in a press release, "The opening of the sorting centre in Bac Ninh marks a tremendously significant milestone in the development of SPX. This new sorting centre aims to serve the rapidly growing e-commerce industry and digital economy. Furthermore, it acts as a crucial link that ensures goods move swiftly, safely, and reliably from sellers to consumers. It vividly illustrates SPX's relentless efforts to enhance infrastructure and fulfill our commitment to providing optimised and efficient delivery solutions. This contribution will play a key role in driving the robust growth of the digital economy."
Launched in 2020, SPX offers reliable and cost-effective delivery services across Southeast Asia, supporting SMEs, big brands and individual sellers.
