Japanese firm inaugurates polysilicon facility in Ho Chi Minh City

The complex marks a new milestone in the development of a high-tech materials supply chain, contributing to the advancement of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry. Total investment comes to more than $60 million.

The facility is being developed on a site of 50,000 square metres and will have a maximum production capacity of 4,955 tonnes of polysilicon per year. This is Tokuyama's first high-tech venture in Vietnam, focusing on the production of high-purity polysilicon for the electronics industry and the semiconductor value chain.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hiroshi Yokota, president of Tokuyama Corporation, said, "Building and maintaining a stable supply chain has become one of Tokuyama’s top strategic priorities amid the rapid development of advanced technologies such as AI and data centres. This strategy aims to meet growing market demand while establishing a solid foundation for long-term development."

The official commissioning of the new manufacturing facility also contributes to strengthening the supply of key materials for the semiconductor value chain, while opening up new opportunities for collaboration in Vietnam’s high-tech industrial sector.

Founded in 1918 in Japan, Tokuyama Corporation has more than a century of experience and operates across a diverse range of industries, including chemicals, cement, electronic materials, life science, and recycling.

Tokuyama Vietnam was established in 2024 as the corporation's subsidiary engaged in the production and sale of semiconductor-grade polycrystalline silicon in Vietnam. Considering the anticipated further expansion of the semiconductor market, Tokuyama has been striving to ensure a stable supply of polycrystalline silicon, a wafer material used in advanced semiconductors, to strengthen the supply chain.

As corporation's production and sales subsidiary in Vietnam, Tokuyama Vietnam is responsible for the final process of polycrystalline silicon production and contributes to the expansion of the advanced semiconductor market in collaboration with Tokuyama.
