Hanoi promotes agricultural product trade

Vice director of HPA Nguyen Thi Mai Anh informed that the forum “Connect, promote trading and consuming agricultural products in Hanoi 2020” is an annual event coordinated by the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) with JICA Safe Crop project held since 2017. This is an opportunity for local enterprises in Hanoi and other provinces to promote their brands and look for potential business partners.

“Through the forum, more cooperation contracts will be signed between the parties in the production chain and consumption of agricultural products to provide delicious and quality products to consumers in Hanoi and international friends, developing the city's economy, stimulating domestic consumption, and helping Vietnamese goods to access modern distribution channels,” said Mai Anh.

Japanese agricultural materials companies present at the forum also presented their experiences in applying advanced farming techniques, innovative technologies, as well as sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural development solutions. In the framework of the forum, activities directly connected manufacturers and distributors.

After the forum, many activities to connect manufacturers and distributors were also held at the Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2020.

With a scale of nearly 100 booths displaying and introducing thousands of products from 26 provinces and cities,the fair is an opportunity for businesses to get deeper access to the modern distribution system of AEON Group Vietnam and AEON Worldwide. At the same time, it gives Vietnamese businesses the opportunity to improve business capabilities and product quality in a methodical manner, thereby orienting production, approaching the distribution system of AEON Japan Group, as well as to build a strategy to export goods to Japan.

Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2020 took place at AEON Mall Long Bien until November 9. After this event, the HPA will continue to hold Hanoi Agriculture Fair 2020 at AEON Mall Hadong from November 19 to 23.

This is the second held the Hanoi Agriculture Fair after the success of its first program with revenue of more than VND 6 billion($260,000). Many businesses said that they found distribution agents right at the fair. Nguyen Van Chu, director of Organic Green Clean Food Co. Ltd (Thuong Tin district, Hanoi) shared that through trade promotion, fairs, exhibitions, events to connect trade, the amount of goods consumed by the company has increased significantly, especially on the e-commerce channel.

Along with the fair program, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the HPA cooperated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to implement a project to enhance reliability in the field of safe crop production in the North. Farmers participating in the project not only received support in terms of technology but also consulted to change their farming mindset.

After three years of implementation, about 800 farming households participated in learning how to make safe agricultural products, how to control pesticide residues and new farming methods, reduce the adverse effects of weather, and improve soil, selecting new varieties with higher yields. The representative of the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said that since its implementation in mid-2016 until now, the safe production area supported by the project has increased from 50.86 hectares in winter of 2017 - 2018 to more than 180 hectares in the winter crop of 2020-2021.

According to Japanese agricultural experts, the application of advanced farming techniques, the application of new technologies, as well as long-term plans in production are the solutions to sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural development. In addition, the supportive policies for agricultural growers will help them promote their strengths, feel secure in production, which leads them to produce safe, quality and productive agricultural products to put into the large distribution system.
