Hanmi Semiconductor spreads wings in Vietnam

In a groundbreaking move, South Korean chip equipment giant Hanmi Semiconductor Co. has announced the introduction of its local arm, Hanmi Vietnam, according to newswire Kedglobal.

Nestled in Bac Ninh, a city that doubles as the capital of Bac Ninh province, this subsidiary stands poised to revolutionise the semiconductor landscape.

As Vietnam solidifies its reputation as a burgeoning production hub for global semiconductor behemoths, Hanmi Semiconductor's foray into the market could not be more timely.

The company's CEO Kwak Dong-shin emphasised the company's commitment to providing tailored services to Vietnamese consumers through its local subsidiary and a team of expert sales and service engineers.

Founded in 1980 to boost the development of South Korea's semiconductor-based industry, Hanmi Semiconductor has grown steadily into a world-class semiconductor manufacturer, and is now a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer in the semiconductor equipment industry.

“Our success has been based on a number of factors, such as the best assembly systems, excellent production efficiency, ongoing research and development investment, and 25 years of quality improvement,” the company noted.

Hanmi Semiconductor’s decision to expand its operations into Vietnam aligns with the country's recent influx of foreign investments in the semiconductor industry.

For instance, Samsung Electronics Co., the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, has already invested a substantial amount of $20 billion. Additionally, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced plans last year to invest $2.27 billion to enhance its next-generation semiconductor substrate flip chip ball grid array business.
