Vietnam's FPT Semiconductor JSC is teaming up with US-based Silvaco to enhance human resources development in the semiconductor sector, with plans to establish a training centre in Vietnam and expand business in advanced tech areas.

The pair entered into a strategic partnership on September 22 to foster business growth in this promising area.

The signing event was graced by Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his visit to the US.

According to the MoU, the two parties are committed to human resource development for semiconductor companies in the US. The two companies along with FPT University have pledged collaboration in nurturing talents for the US semiconductor sector.

Additionally, they will cooperate to establish the Vietnam Semiconductor Training Centre, bolstering talent development in line with governmental programmes.

Furthermore, FPT will provide intellectual property on Silvaco's platform, which Silvaco will then offer to its clients. The partnership also encompasses the development of business ventures in StandardCell, IO, and Memory design fields.

FPT Corporation chairman Truong Gia Binh said, "Vietnam has the potential to establish a strong foothold in AI. Additionally, both Vietnam and FPT stand to accelerate their growth in the digital technology realm."

Established in 1984, Silvaco is a technology, automation, and semiconductor software enterprise headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company has a presence across North America, Europe, and Asia. It offers technology computer-aided design software, electronic design automation software, and world-class support to engineers and researchers across the globe.

On September 11, during US President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam, Binh of FPT revealed investment strategies in the US, emphasising high-quality human resource development in AI and propelling the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

FPT Corporation also announced an all-encompassing strategic alliance with LandingAI, a front-runner in machine vision and AI based in Silicon Valley. This is part of its ambitious drive to expedite the incorporation of AI into FPT Education's curriculum.

PT is the first company in Vietnam to produce commercial chips, focusing on customised chip designs based on client orders. The corporation is currently prioritising the expansion of its semiconductor and AI segments.
