Chief Minister of Sierra Leone Jacob Jusu Saffa and Truong Gia Binh, chairman of FPT's board of management signed the MoU |
The signing was part of the Hanoi visit by Sierra Leone President Julius Maada from March 15-16.
Under the agreement, FPT will coordinate with the world's leading firms to provide consultancy to the government of Sierra Leone about socioeconomic development and digital transformation strategies.
The Vietnamese tech group will also assist in building a digital government, economy, and society towards creating a digital nation.
Regarding training, FPT will offer high-quality training programmes, such as the Bachelor of Technology, in Vietnam to a number of gifted students that are selected by the Sierra Leonean government.
FPT hopes that providing consultancy will contribute to helping Sierra Leone develop into a country with stable development moving forward.
Truong Gia Binh, chairman of FPT's board of management, emphasised that Vietnam can cooperate and support the nation in providing high-quality education and training, as well as removing hurdles in agriculture via technology application.
"This is a great opportunity for Vietnam's tech businesses and agricultural enterprises," Binh said, adding that the agreement contributes to FPT’s technological capabilities and position in the world.
The agreement marks the first time FPT has signed a cooperation agreement to promote national digital transformation for a country outside of Vietnam.
As part of the visit, on March 15 President Maada and his wife visited FPT University in Hoa Lac High-tech Park, Hanoi.
