A programme to promote Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year culture to foreign diplomats and tourists was organised by the Hanoi Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre in collaboration with Son Tay People's Committee and related agencies in the village, in the outlying district of Son Tay.
Participants including ambassadors, international visitors from many diplomatic agencies, international organisations, and foreign tourists currently living and working in Hanoi enjoyed the traditional market atmosphere. Many traditional customs and practices of Vietnamese people were also introduced such as calligraphy, folk music, and culinary activities, attracting special interest for international friends.
Visitors had a chance to explore typical dishes prepared during the festival, experience handicrafts at the lacquer production workshop, and join in with folk games.
Duong Lam ancient village is expected to become a top destination for tourists during the festive break, contributing to promoting tourism in Son Tay district and Hanoi in general.
According to a representative of the Hanoi Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Centre, the programme offers unique traditional culture and practical significance that contribute solutions for economic recovery and development in the post-pandemic period.
It also aimed to promote national cultural values to international friends and preserve traditional cultural beauty.
The organisers expressed their belief that the initiative would create good impressions of Duong Lam village and Son Tay district, thereby promoting Duong Lam as a tourist destination to international friends, creating a stimulus effect to welcome visitors during the Lunar New Year.
