The Danang tourism promotion event in Hong Kong |
The event featured the presence of Tran Thanh Huan, consul general, Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents, more than 60 representatives of tourism businesses in Hong Kong as well as local journalists and reporters.
The Danang group was led by Huynh Thi Huong Lan, deputy director of the Danang Centre for Tourism Promotion, and representatives of the Danang Tourism Association, airlines, as well as hotels and golf courses in Danang.
“Today’s event is organised to develop and reinforce business relations between travel firms in our two locations. Our beautiful beach city is an ideal leisure destination, which is also a gateway thanks to its proximity and accessibility to many UNESCO heritage sites in central Vietnam such as Hoi An Ancient Town, Hue Citadel, and My Son Holy Land," she said. “Honoured as Asia’s leading festival and event destination 2016, Danang also offers various events and cultural festivals all year-round to attract international tourists. We do believe the central coast of Vietnam will bring about great products to tour operators.”

Truong Ngoc Thanh, PR manager of luxury Furama Resort and Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, added: “Within only two hours of flight, Hong Kong has recently emerged as a potential market for Danang. Naturally endowed with beautiful beaches, peaceful atmosphere, and spacious resorts and hotels, Danang would soon become an attractive destination to tourists from Hong Kong.”
Hong Kong is regarded as one of the potential international markets for Danang. In 2018, more than 17,700 tourists from Hong Kong visited Danang. Within the first four months of 2019, the city welcomed over 6,582 Hong Kong travellers.
The Hong Kong-Danang direct route is currently exploited by Jetstar Pacific (four flights per week), Cathay Dragon (nine flights per week), and Hong Kong Express (14 flights per week).
At the end of 2018, Danang was home to 785 accommodation providers with 35,615 standard rooms. There were 79 four or five-star hotels, with 15,400 rooms. Total tour operators numbered 331 companies, in which there were 220 international tour operators.
