Investigation agency: C.P. Vietnam not violate food safety regulations

In early June, information appeared on social networks and some media outlets that C.P. Vietnam Corporation had allegedly violated food safety regulations by delivering substandard pork and chicken to Soc Trang markets.

In response to this information, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security to request an investigation. Under the direction of the Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control, Hau Giang Police, Soc Trang Police, local departments of livestock and veterinary medicine, and other local authorities conducted an objective and comprehensive investigation.

With the highest sense of responsibility, C.P. Vietnam and its branches, factories, and the entire distribution system nationwide proactively worked with the authorities to provide all records, documents, and data related to the production and slaughtering processes, quality control measures, and food safety monitoring systems that are being applied throughout the C.P. Vietnam system.

The results of the investigation and verification are clearly stated in Notice No.10922/TB-CSKT issued on June 29, concluding that C.P. Vietnam did not violate food safety regulations in Clause 2, Article 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code. As such, the Investigation Police Agency decided not to prosecute the case.

This conclusion confirms that C.P. Vietnam did not violate the law on food safety, contrary to the false information that was spreading last month.

This is the result of a thorough, independent and objective investigation by a specialised investigation agency, similar to the inspections of inter-sectoral authorities in the past, once again proving the transparency, seriousness, and rule of law in all production and business at C.P. Vietnam.
