According to Soc Trang Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, an interdisciplinary inspection team conducted a surprise inspection of the C.P. Fresh Shop in My Xuyen town on May 30. Over the next two days, the team also visited three other stores in the province.
The team did not find any signs of disease or rotten pork or chicken products that had been circulating.
However, the inspection found some errors in administrative procedures. Specifically, the food safety certificates at three shops had expired. Some shops were also unable to provide business registration or food safety training certificates for employees.
To further clarify the suspicions, the inspection team took samples of ground pork at the stores and sent them for testing. The results confirmed that all meat samples were negative for African swine fever, classical swine fever, and blue ear disease.
The team also conducted inspections at C.P.Vietnam's stores and factories in Can Tho, Ca Mau, Kien Giang, and Hau Giang. Initial results showed that all products had clear origins, valid quarantine certificates, and the slaughtering process was directly supervised by veterinary officers following regulations. Administrative errors at some stores will need to rectified immediately.
Accounts named “Jonny Lieu” on Facebook and “Ngan Tech” on Zalo have been posting false information related to pork and chicken products at C.P. Vietnam. They claimed to be employees of the company who had discovered serious violations that occurred every day, such as selling sick pigs and chickens for half price.
C.P. Vietnam responded to the accusations, saying the false information was aimed at defaming and intentionally causing damage to the company. All images attached to the articles had unknown origins, times, locations, and were not images of C.P. Vietnam products.
"We affirm that all products strictly comply with strict veterinary and product quality control procedures, ensuring full compliance with food hygiene and safety standards according to current regulations," C.P. Vietnam emphasised in the announcement.
The company has coordinated with authorities to clarify the situation in line with legal regulations and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the enterprise.
“We are sorry that this incident has caused serious disruption and damage to the company's operations, and has caused confusion and fear among customers, partners, and the entire community,” C.P. Vietnam said.
