This was according to members of Amkor Technology management at the working session with Secretary of Bac Ninh's Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan at the company on September 12.

Amkor Technology Korea Inc. CEO Ji Jong-Rip has been in Vietnam since early September to survey the operation and export activity of the factory.

According to Amkor, the group succeeded in making deals with four partners and is negotiating with another six partners. The group exported the first batch of semiconductors after taking the factory into operation in August.

The company currently employs over 1,060 workers, 938 of which are Vietnamese people. More than 200 companies from around the globe have visited the factory to look for cooperation opportunities.

The group is committed to training the required human resources for semiconductors, while working with Bac Ninh authorities to build an ecosystem for the semiconductor industry there, helping the province to integrate into the global supply chain and meet the group's demand for a high-quality workforce.

Amkor Technology leaders suggested the province help with the construction of a shortcut to the facility, and a residential area for its workers.

Responding to these proposals, Tuan assigned Bac Ninh Industrial Zones Management Authority, Bac Ninh Department of Transport and the industrial park (IP) developer to jointly study construction of such a shortcut this month. The province will soon select investors to build workers' houses to aid Amkor Technology.

In August, the group suggested the province facilitate the importation of used machines for workforce training. However, this was beyond the provincial administration's authority.

Amkor Technology’s $1.6-billion investment in Bac Ninh covers 23 hectares in Yen Phong II-C IP. Its first phase of $530 million began operation in August.
