$15 million Australia packaging factory opens

With a total investment of over $15 million, the company is making significant strides in label and packaging technology to meet the increasingly diverse demands of the Vietnamese and broader Asia-Pacific markets.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dang Tan Khoa, managing director of HHLC-QLM Vietnam, said that from a modest scale with a few 1-2 colour flatbed machines in 1995, HHLC-QLM Vietnam has expanded the factory to 6,000 sq.m.

“Over the years, we have consistently prioritised technology as the focal point of our development. We are committed to continually upgrading technology and technical standards to adapt to the market's diverse needs,” said Khoa.

Simon Pugh, managing director of QLM Label Makers Group, part of HHLC-QLM, said that the Group also marked its 50 years of providing labels and packaging.

The newly designed factory consists of several dedicated areas focused on different printing technology, including flexographic label printing, offset printing for soft folded cartons, digital printing technology for both labels and sheets as well as the newly installed digital flexible packaging printing and finishing equipment.

The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the QLM Label Makers Group - the parent company of HHLC-QLM Vietnam, headquartered in Brisbane, Australia - and the 25th anniversary of Hoang Ha Label Co., - Vietnam’s oldest privately owned label manufacturer.

In 1997, HHLC-QLM Vietnam pioneered applying six-colour Letterpress printing in Vietnam. In 2014, the company adopted Vietnam’s first HP Indigo Digital Label press and now in 2023, HHLC-QLM Vietnam has further invested in HP Indigo Digital Flexible Packaging - installing Vietnam’s first HP 20000 PRESS, intending to expand its flexible packaging services.

QLM Label Makers Group was founded in 1973 by David and Del Pugh in Brisbane, Australia.

Hoang Ha Label Co., Limited (HHLC) was established in 1995 and was the first label manufacturer in Vietnam to apply Letterpress technology in printing.

In 2012, HHLC joined QLM Group, maintaining its local in combination with QLM, while aiming to become a comprehensive partner for labelling and packaging solutions in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region.
