Minister Nguyen Van Thang thanked Minister Kato Katsunobu for his goodwill in proposing the video conference after a very successful meeting in January.
Thang said that the current challenge on trade from tariffs is a test for Vietnamese manufacturers, but also an opportunity for enterprises to do more to improve the application of science and technology, and improve productivity to reduce production costs and product prices.
Vietnam encourages and promotes cooperation between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises, and encourages them to participate more in the global value chain, he added.
"We have considered and proposed solutions to support the business sector in general and the foreign-invested sector in particular," he emphasised.
Vietnam has a new policy orientation to attract foreign investment and increase added value, with high-quality foreign investment in science and technology and emerging industries.
Japan is one of Vietnam's biggest partners, accompanying it in the development process. "Facing these challenges, Vietnam and Japan should promote solidarity, and increase dialogue to enhance adaptability and response to challenges and fluctuations," the Vietnamese minister said.
He believed that the Japanese PM's visit to Vietnam at the end of April will achieve positive results, contributing to the relationship between the two countries.
