Organised by Vinexad, the exhibition is larger than last year’s edition, demonstrating the event's success as a reliable way for businesses in the food and beverages (F&B) industry to promote their brands.

There are several big names that have contributed to the development of the F&B industry in Vietnam, such as Tan Nhat Huong - a pioneer in the production and import-export of bakery ingredients in Vietnam and also the first company to successfully build a domestic ice cream factory.

TH Group is behind the TH True Food brand, offering high-quality food products such as bacon, sausages, rice, and dried fruit, to help consumers prepare meals quickly in just a few minutes.

Golden Farm specialises in providing products such as jam, smoothies, and syrups, extracted from fresh fruit for direct consumption or as cooking ingredients.

In addition, two brands, Great Eastern and Gia Thinh Phat, specialising in syrup, tea, and industrial tapioca pearls, and partners with several renowned beverage chains, have also confirmed their participation. Luong Gia brand will also attend, showcasing its dried fruit products and specialised products in the beverage industry such as its fruit syrup, purée, and fruit fillings.

Especially, in order for food and beverage products to have a distinct identity in the market, the role of enterprises providing machinery, production equipment and packaging is indispensable. Accordingly, the exhibition will also be attended by firms providing machinery, production equipment and packaging, such as VMS, New Diamond, Eulsung Auto Oack Vietnam, Hai Anh, QCM, Idea L Pack VN, among others.

There will be several supporting activities and opportunities for businesses to connect with potential partners. They include a 1-to-1 Business Matching event and seminars discussing the issues of the F&B industry.

There will also be a forum featuring business leaders from Chengdu Business Development Promotion Association in China. The seminar will discuss how to approach Chinese consumers, specifically Chengdu city - a potential market for the F&B industry. Furthermore, businesses from both countries will share information about business experience, brand stories, and seek cooperation opportunities.

The exhibition also offers visitors a one-day course to become a bartender with a mixing class. This is an exclusive activity, promising to entice numerous shop owners and people who are may consider a career in bartending or as a barista, especially young people. The bartending class will be instructed by lecturer Nghiem Tuan Anh of A Au Vogu Corporation.

According to the data published by IPOS.vn, in the first half of 2024, the revenue of the Vietnamese F&B industry was over $16.8 billion (VND404 trillion), equivalent to 68.5 per cent of the revenue of the whole of last year. This is a very positive sign that the F&B industry is taking advantage of opportunities.

The customer base of the F&B market is expanding, especially the middle class, which accounts for about 13 per cent of the population, increasing by four million people in 2024, mostly in urban areas, according to VIRAC.

Gen Z are also playing an increasingly important role. Gen Z tend to look for new places and are willing to spend money to experience innovative products. If the needs of these two groups can be exploited, then F&B businesses will develop many potential new customers.

The tourism industry has also contributed greatly to the growth of the industry. According to data from the General Statistics Office, in the first eight months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed 11.4 million international visitors, an increase of 46 per cent over the same period in 2023. Revenue from accommodation and catering services is estimated at $20 billion (VND481 trillion), an on-year increase of 14.3 per cent. These positive changes have brought expectations of the F&B industry in Vietnam accelerating during the peak time of the year-end holiday season.

In addition, Vietnam's domestic and foreign policies for 2024 will impact on the F&B industry. Decree No.74/2024 ND-CP, regulating the regional minimum wage, has recently been applied, helping to improve the financial situation of consumers. There had also been a series of economic and diplomatic activities with other countries, opening up opportunities for the F&B market to strengthen international cooperation.
