Viatris Inc. is a global healthcare company uniquely positioned to bridge the traditional divide between generics and brands, combining the best of both to address healthcare needs more holistically worldwide. With a mission to empower people to live healthier lives at every stage, we provide access at scale. In 2022 alone, we supplied high-quality medicines to approximately one billion patients globally.

With our extensive and diverse portfolio of medicines, a unique global supply chain designed to reach people when and where they need it, and scientific expertise to address some of the world’s most enduring health challenges, access takes on deep meaning at Viatris. We are present in all moments of life, from birth to end-of-life care, acute conditions to chronic diseases.

Supporting sustainable healthcare systems is fundamental to Viatris. Globally and in Vietnam, we focus on access and innovation to continuously advance sustainable practices and market dynamics.

Viatris Vietnam offers a comprehensive portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas to address a wide range of health conditions. This includes cardiovascular disease, where over 336,000 patients have benefited, pain management for 1.3 million patients, mental health treatments for 403,000 individuals, infectious disease treatments for 70,000 patients, and men’s health solutions for 47,000 patients. We are also working to introduce more localised products to the market through technology transfer of Off-Patent Originators. Moving forward, we will continue expanding our portfolio to increase patient access to high-quality medicines and broaden treatment options for the people of Vietnam.

We firmly believe that better access leads to better health, including access to high-quality medicines made in Vietnam while balancing Viatris’ global, regional, and local supply. Our project, one of the first innovative drug production technology transfers in Vietnam, began in 2017 and has already reached several milestones. In March 2024, we successfully transferred our first three originators to Vietnam and obtained marketing authorisation approvals. We have localised drugs at various stages of transfer and approval. This project aligns with government Decision 1165/QD-TTg 2023 to develop the local pharmaceutical industry, and we hope it will continue to gain support from the Ministry of Health and other relevant ministries to make Vietnam a pharmaceutical manufacturing hub for the ASEAN region in the next 10–20 years.

In addition to product development, we are committed to raising public awareness of diseases. We partner with medical associations and hospitals to support healthcare professionals with education programmes aimed at optimising treatment protocols.

Since 2022, Viatris has partnered with the Vietnam National Heart Association and the Interventional Cardiology Association to develop the SCORE_VN application, a digital tool that helps doctors estimate and stratify cardiovascular risks for Vietnamese patients. As of August 2024, more than 221,000 visits by healthcare professionals nationwide have been recorded on the application.

More recently, on August 3, 2024, we collaborated with the Vietnam National Heart Association and the Vietnam Rheumatologic Association (VRA) to successfully host the “Viatris Masterclass 2024,” part of our education programme series for healthcare professionals across Southeast Asia. This event provided a platform for capability building, idea exchange, and discussions on advancing cardiovascular health, pain management, and mental health to support optimal patient care.

We have also collaborated with the Vietnam Medical Association and the HCMC Retail Pharmacy Association to deliver training programmes for over 1,000 pharmacists from major pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies nationwide. In our efforts to enhance healthcare knowledge among patients with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and men’s health issues, we aim to raise health awareness within the community, reducing the healthcare burden on hospitals in Vietnam.

By combining our global expertise with local insights, we are committed to delivering high-quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare solutions throughout Vietnam. We look forward to continuing our journey of growth and collaboration, working closely with the government, healthcare professionals, and communities to build a healthier future for the country.
