Heritage Wing re-opening ceremony

Throughout the renovation process, the Metropole made sure to preserve the timeless values of the Heritage Wing, continuing the legacy of its past. While the room layout remains largely unchanged, the number of rooms has been reduced from 109 to 103, with twelve former rooms transformed into six new Metropole suites. The wing includes three 'Legendary' suites, named after renowned figures Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham, and Graham Greene, who spent some time at the hotel, and 40 Grand Luxury rooms and 54 Luxury rooms.

Speaking at the re-opening ceremony, George Koumendakos, general manager of the Hotel Metropole Hanoi, said, "The Heritage Wing is closely associated with Hanoi's history, being a witness to the glorious moments as well as the lower points of the hotel. We have strived to bring visitors a more sophisticated, elegant, and luxurious space while still preserving the history and cultural values ​​that have existed from 1901 to the present."

During the upgrade, the wooden floors in the guest rooms were refurbished or replaced. All furnishings, including beds, desks, tea tables, and sofa chairs in the living rooms, were elegantly designed. The bathrooms feature all Italian marble, and the latest Toto sanitary ware.

The carpet in common areas of the building draws inspiration from Vietnamese cultural icons such as conical hats, woven bamboo and rattan, and classic motifs from the Indochina period. Curtains, upholstery, and contemporary artwork add vibrant touches while creating bright and airy spaces in all rooms.

Beyond donning a new look with specially designed furnishings and vibrant colours, the Heritage Wing has embraced advanced technology to offer guests a modern and comfortable stay. Each guest room is equipped with new technological amenities, including internet-equipped television, customisable lighting systems, new air conditioning systems, and Wi-Fi routers installed in each room to ensure maximum internet speed.

A portion of the main lobby of the Metropole Heritage Wing has been refurbished, and the reception counter has been redesigned for a more efficient check-in process. The ceiling above the reception area features artfully crafted antique-style mirrored panels, while white rectangular-shaped wooden frames have been redesigned from the original arched frames. The entire lobby area has new furnishings, carpets, and artwork. The lighting system has been upgraded with mood lighting, creating a warm and classically charming atmosphere.
